Kirsty & Brad
MT ELIZA, VICTORIA
FINDING ‘THE ONE’
I was out with my girlfriends celebrating my sister’s housewarming in Cowes, Phillip Island. Brad was down as he regularly surfed with his mates on the weekends. Brad spotted me at one of the hotels down there and had said to his mate” she is the one’ he mate responded ‘like to see that’ as all mates do lol. Randomly I had to leave the place quickly but came back to the hotel as I was looking for my friends and as fate would have it I had left without getting his number so he then had the chance to ask me, me loosing my friend that night led to wonderful future with Brad. Many years on we would date; Brad living in Berwick and I in Mt Eliza, and now we are married!
I am the traditional kind of girl and was waiting patiently for the exact perfect moment.
Brad took me away for the weekend to Crown Metropol where it has a special place in our hearts in our relationship as we often visit there annually for our birthdays which are two weeks apart in November.
I had bought a new dress and was going to surprise Brad with my new outfit. Brad remained normal throughout the day so I had no indication he was about to make me the happiest girl!
I came out of the bathroom as I saw Brad standing there, waiting for me looking sharp in his new suit. He grabbed my hand and put it up to his heart to listen to how fast it was beating, he proceeded to kneel down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I couldn’t wait to tell me friends and family.
We celebrated the night with dinner and drinks, then went to purchase my ring together the next day, it was quite a romantic moment to spend together searching for that special ring, we did it together which I loved and then came home to beautiful flowers in our home bought buy my parents for our engagement.
FINDING THE RIGHT DRESS
From the moment I got engaged I knew what dress I wanted as I had inspiration from a Couture dress I had seen recently and it was love at first sight! I had never seen a more beautiful unique dress and I had wanted to create something similar.
I did go to Melbourne Bridal central in Armadale, tried on many dresses but as my mum had said ” you have your heart set on your dress in your mind and that was quite clear”. Luckily for me I found the most amazing dress maker known as Sue Kitson. From the start Sue first saw my inspiration there wasn’t any questions, she knew exactly what fabric I needed and how to get it done, and I never looked back!
With every fitting I had, I loved the dress even more from the moment it was just a lining to the day I picked it up. Sue was always directing me on what fabric I needed to purchase because to be honest I had no idea about dressmaking, fabric or sewing! She literally just made my dream dress come true, couldn’t be happier.
Our ceremony was in the historical church of St. James the Less and we chose this church because this is where I would come as child with my family and the place I was also baptised so it will always hold a special place in my heart! We wanted our wedding to be special to all our family and friends so my wonderful cousins wrote their own blessings and prayers for myself and new husband at the ceremony. It was beautiful, I loved all these little touches our family could bring.
WORKING WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Laura from Perla Photography was everything and more I could ask for from a photographer. From the first moment I spoke to her she was friendly, down to earth and I could tell weddings was her passion!
With each question and email I sent, Laura was always promptly replying and left me feeling relaxed and made the whole process so much easier for us. She guided us through the day and made it as much fun and natural as possible. We also got the pleasure of getting Perla Photography to video our wedding and this was one of our most favourite parts. My husband was actually a bit worried about having a video but we didn’t even know they were there! Very professional and a great quality film, that we can watch to relive every moment of our most perfect day!
Stillwater at Crittenden Estate did not disappoint! My husband and I had been for lunch at Crittenden with our family a few months before our wedding and everyone left raving about the food and service “the best pork belly I’ve ever eaten” said my sister, the maid of honour.
They accommodated our every need! It turned out we actually loved some of the dishes that weren’t on the wedding menu but they added it just for us! The best part was I didn’t even need to speak to our planner on the night as everything ran to plan and she was able to guide us through it without us even knowing. They are experts at wedding planning and we couldn’t be happier with choosing Stillwater for our wedding day.
The food, wine and scenery was superb!
