Abbey & Tim
THE PERFECT PROPOSAL
Tim proposed while we were in New York City. While I was out on the “Sex and the City” tour, Tim spent the morning setting the scene! When I returned to the apartment, I was greeted by scattered rose petals, a bottle of champagne and a ring box sitting on the bed. Our favourite song “Love Lies” by Josh Pyke was playing in the background and it was only fitting that this be the song we chose for me to walk down the aisle to. Tim managed to get out a few heartfelt words before dropping to one knee and popping the question! The proposal was perfectly us and very personal. He could have done it in Central Park or on top of the Empire State Building but that kind of attention is just not our style. It was very special and we felt like we were the only two people in the big city.
HOW TO COME UP WITH A THEME?
We wanted an all-round casual and relaxed wedding with a vintage vibe. I had a particular style and colour theme in mind and the suppliers we used helped bring it together perfectly. It was important to us to be organised from the beginning so we could enjoy the lead up to the wedding completely stress free.
FINDING THE PERFECT DRESS
It’s true what they say sometimes – you never know what you might want until you try it on! I thought I had in mind what I wanted but Anna Campbell’s sweet “Isobelle” dress was the last dress I tried on for the whole day, and completely different to everything else I had tried. I knew as soon as I saw it on that it was the one, and I knew Tim was going to love it too! The ladies at Anna Campbell in Armadale were a pleasure to deal with through the entire process.
It was an early morning all round! The ladies got ready at Ballarat Premier Apartments. Hair & Make-up came to us so we could relax and enjoy the morning together. The lads spent the morning sprucing up their hair and beards at Lords and Lads Barber in Camp Street. Scott joined us both throughout the morning as we got ready separately.
We shared personal vows to one another under the guidance of our celebrant, Ann Edgar. It was beautiful and very emotional. The day was full of love, laughter, food and wine with our closest friends and family. It was everything we ever hoped it would be and so much more. We were so overwhelmed with love and happiness but more than anything, we are forever grateful for the love we have found and the friends and family that we share between us. There were many laughs and happy tears cried, as well as memories made that we will remember for a lifetime.
CAPTURING THE SPECIAL DAY
Scott from One Point Photography is a master of his craft. His easy-going, professional attitude made us feel at ease from the moment we met with him. We felt we could put our complete trust in him to capture our special day. The emotion and happiness he captured left us speechless and we can’t thank him enough for being such a legend.
We wanted a venue where we could hold both the ceremony and the reception, to save our guests the travel between. We both love our food and wine and thought a winery would be a lovely setting, well suited to what we wanted. Quoin Hill Vineyard ticked all the boxes for us. It provided the perfect backdrop with rolling hills and beautiful vines. The venue was the rustic, open and spacious blank canvas we wanted and were able to decorate ourselves. Trish and Steve were lovely and very accommodating. They allowed us to tailor to menu to suit our needs.
Pink Moon are an acoustic cover duo featuring live male and female vocal, guitar, ukulele percussion and drums. They received many compliments on the night and kept our guests and ourselves dancing the night away!
Kate from Little Black Sheep Hire Co. was a gem to deal with. She is based in Ararat and supplied the trestle tables, gorgeous timber bentwood chairs and festoon lighting, which helped bring the theme together nicely.
